The Quebec Wood Export Bureau (QWEB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Samuel Gendron as Director of the Softwood Group.

Samuel succeeds Sven Gustavsson, who is retiring after years of dedicated service and contribution to the organization and the industry. We would like to sincerely thank Sven for his commitment, expertise and valuable leadership throughout his tenure at QWEB.

A graduate of Université Laval in Wood Engineering and holder of a Master of Science degree in Wood and Bio-based Materials Engineering, Samuel brings a strong combination of technical expertise, innovation and market knowledge.

Before joining QWEB, Samuel worked at FPInnovations as a Wood Processing Researcher, where he played a key role in developing digital tools aimed at optimizing sawmilling and wood drying operations.

His experience includes sawmill operations, wood drying, phytosanitary treatments and evaluation of export markets for lumber and their regulatory requirements.

More recently, Samuel contributed to assessing export market requirements and their impact on sawmill performance indicators, with a focus on industrial process optimization, production cost reduction and value creation through product diversification.

Driven by a strong interest in improving the competitiveness of wood manufacturing companies, Samuel is particularly focused on strategies that help businesses better respond to market needs while supporting profitability and long-term growth.

Known for his enthusiasm, organizational skills and collaborative approach, Samuel is also passionate about the outdoors and an avid runner—bringing the same drive for challenge and continuous improvement into his professional life.

The entire QWEB team welcomes Samuel and looks forward to benefiting from his expertise to continue supporting and promoting Quebec’s wood exports internationally.
